COURSES

Scotia Soccer Club looks forward to seeing you grow as coaches. We continue to look for opportunities for your growth and development.

Although a full list of courses is on the Coach Centre link, it is recommended that if at all possible, you select from the courses available in Halifax.

If you  are unsure of what course is right for you for the level you are going to coach, Soccer Nova Scotia has provided a handy Coach Course Calculation Tool to answer your question.

Procedure for registering for a coaching course:
  1. You must have a valid police check on file before the Club will approve a course.
  2. You must first register as a coach in the Goalline system for the current season.
  3. You must be approved to be a coach for the current season.
  4. The Club will then enter you as a coach in the Coach Centre system.
  5. You will be advised of the course required for the level you will be coaching. The Club will only approve and pay for courses at that level.
  6. Once approved, you will be supplied with a club passcode so that the club will pay for the course.
  7. You must complete your registration in Coach Centre and register for the recommended course.
  8. Your first choice should be courses in the Suburban District but you are permitted to register at other locations.

A certification program is available for Under 6 and Under 8 Game Leaders.  Once you register as a Game Leader, you will be sent information on how to take the online course. The course involves watching a 12-minute video followed by a short online test. You have three chances to pass the test. A help file is available.
